NATURE OF CAREER

I interviewed a Tallahassee Democrat's Letters Editor. This what I learned from interviewing her.A Letters Editor's working condition is that they work in an office. Sheworks with many people and in very many different capacities.

JOB OUTLOOK

Job outlook for Letters Editors for the future is limited since there is only one Letters Editor per newspaper and there's not a whole bunch of them.

SALARY AND WORKING CONDITIONS

It is a very high-pressured job. The average salary for a Letters Editor ranges from $20,000 to $30,000 dollars a year. Some jobs that are related to a Letters Editor are the Page Editor, supervisor and boss for the Letters Editor, and the Editorial Editor. One of the differences between these positions are that an Editorial Editor writes editorials and manages other editors, while the Letters Editor works with readers and doesn't manage anyone. The similarities are that they both work with editing and are both deadline oriented and high pressured.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

The education required to become a Letters Editor is that you need to have a bachelors degree. Now for some additional information: the Letters Editor is a very fun job, but is also a stressful job. Many readers are very fun to work with, while others are just upset and complain a lot and are just not very enjoyable to deal with.

COLLEGES

She said that to become a Letters Editor you should major in journalism, English, history, or politics. Most liberal arts schools and large universities offer these majors. One for example is the University of Florida. The University of Florida is the state's oldest and comprehensive university. It was started in 1853. It is the seventh largest university in the nation, with 40,000 students enrolled.

She was asked if she would pick a different job, or stay with the same one again. She said: "No one should stay with a career they dislike, and I like mine."
