Student Projects will include: 
Mr. Stinchfield's Assignment for 10th and 11th grade English classes

Mr. Smith's Drama classes' "Portraits": Students will write and perform monologues of specific people who are features in NY Times Portraits of grief (Create a video tape of presentations)

 
Exhibition in gallery: Ms. Barret-Hayes, Ms. Davis, Ms. Hartsfield and Ms. Braddy and Ms. Wallheiser's students will create a variety of artworks using different media. Students will respond to the theme "Rebuilding a Nation's spirit" It will include 3-dimensional and 2-dimensional art. E.G. installations (of hard hats, of fire equipment, of building tools)

Ms. Lockwood's and Ms. McQuone's students will create a Wall of Remembrance with Word documents. See  Wall of Remembrance (Word document).

 
Multimedia: original musical interpretation as a response to 9/11
   
Ceremony to lower flag to half-staff with police officers and military service men
 
Math: Ms. Sapuppo's students will create Origami (geometric) cranes and doves which will hang from trees outside. Inspirational messages will be written on them.
 
Children will give tours of the Art gallery to help visitors interpret art works. Visitors will include: police, firemen, national guard and other local officials.
 
Web project: digital pictures of art work and artists' statements will be made  and published on the school website.
 
Powerpoint presentations: students insert a picture from 9/11 and write inspirational words that rise one line at a time.

Pick a picture  from student's artwork and create a PowerPoint or Poem about your reaction to it.

Florida State standards for art that these activities cover are: where do artists get ideas, artworks are created for different purposes (eg. commemorate and memorialize artists make conscious decisions of materials and tools to best communicate their idea vehicle for communication and expression of feelings.)
