Which
skateboard has better performance? Feather-light
vs. Element regular By Steven

Abstract |
The purpose of my experiment is to
answer the question, “Can you Ollie higher on a Feather-light skateboard or
an Element regular skateboard?” The problem is Can you Ollie higher on a
Feather-light skateboard or an Element regular skateboard?” I predicted that
you can Ollie higher on a Feather-light skateboard. In my experimental
procedure there are five steps in the process: Ollie five times on the
Feather-light board, Ollie five times on the Element regular board, measure
how high you got on each skateboard with a yard stick, record your height on
a sheet of paper, and add all of your tests for each skateboard. The results
of my experiment were that I reached to an average height of 43.9 centimeters
with the Feather-light skateboard and an average height of 29 centimeters. In
conclusion, I predicted that you could Ollie higher with a Feather-light
skateboard rather than an Element regular skateboard. I was correct; I did
Ollie higher with a Feather-light skateboard. I reached an average height of
43.9 centimeters for the Feather-light skateboard and an average height of 29
centimeters with the Element regular skateboard. |

Experimental Design |
Problem: Which skateboard can you Ollie higher with? Purpose: To find out which skateboard you can Ollie higher with. Hypothesis: I predict that you can Ollie higher with the Element Feather-light skateboard. Variable: Element Feather-light skateboard and Element regular skateboard. Measured Data: I will measure the height of my Ollie in centimeters. Control: none Materials: 1 Feather-light skateboard, 1 Element regular skateboard, and a yard stick. Controlled conditions: Same weather conditions, same
surface (concrete). |

Experimental Procedure |
1. Ollie five times on the Feather-light skateboard 2. Ollie five times on the regular Element skateboard 3. Measure how high you got with each skateboard 4. Record your height on a sheet of paper 5. Add up all of your tests for each skateboard, then find the average |

The results
of my experiment were that I reached to an average height of 43.9 centimeters
with the Feather-light skateboard and an average height of 29 centimeters. In
conclusion, I predicted that you could Ollie higher with a Feather-light
skateboard rather than an Element regular skateboard. I was correct; I did
Ollie higher with a Feather-light skateboard. I reached an average height of
43.9 centimeters for the Feather-light skateboard and an average height of 29
centimeters with the Element regular skateboard. This would be useful to
someone who wants to find out if this skateboard is better than this one? I
would Ollie 10 times instead of 5 times. I would use a video camera so then I
could pause, fast forward, rewind etc. I would also use millimeters instead
centimeters. I would test to see whether you can have a faster pop with the
Feather-light skateboard or the Element regular skateboard. I tested to see
if you could Ollie higher on a Feather-light skateboard or an Element regular.
You can Ollie higher with the Feather-light skateboard. |

Reflection |
The best thing about my project is that I get to experiment on something I like to do. I learned that you can have fun when you are doing the Science Fair. |
