Foreign language plays an integral role in the education of our students. The obvious reasons for studying a language might include cutting down on frustrations when traveling both internationally and within U.S. borders. Beginning to prepare our students for future vocations is also cited as important. But the most important reason for studying foreign language is the enhancement of our knowledge of English!
According to research done by the College Board, students who do study foreign language even for a single year surpass their counterparts who do not when it comes to standardized tests and academic success. For each additional year that a student continues in foreign language studies, the results improve geometrically. That is to say, that the improvements on tests such as the ACT or SAT are statistically dramatic with each year of foreign language study.
