Message From The Principal - August 2008
Welcome to Florida State University School!! For those that have been with us, we are glad you are back. For those of you who are new, we welcome you to the "Florida High" family. We are looking forward to another educationally exciting year for our students. As always, if there is anything that we can do for you, please feel free to contact the teachers, Mrs. Ard the Guidance Counselor, or myself.

There are two items that I would like to bring to your attention. The first is our construction program. We will begin construction on two new classroom buildings this fall. Both areas will be fenced off with no student access. We will be building a primary classroom building which will include an elementary art room. We will also be building a classroom building between the elementary and high school buildings. This will have two classes to replace the learning cottages and two new high school science classrooms. Hopefully this will be phase one of a four phase building plan. We hope to receive additional funds from the Legislature to pay for the other three phases.

The second item is traffic and parking. This seems to be a yearly item for us here at FSUS. Please remember that the front loops are for drop-off and pick-up. If you need to park, please do so in the front parking lot. During the first week of school, we will be training fifth grade students to help with the elementary students in the west loop. We hope that with your help, the traffic issues will work themselves out during the first week. Please be patient and courteous as we try to provide a safe drop-off and pick-up for our students. And the most important reminder is to keep your children buckled up until you come to a stop at the front of the loop. The police will be checking on seat belt use and we would hate for any of our parents to be cited. So please BUCKLE UP -IT'S THE LAW!

Again, we look forward to working with you and your child this year. Let's make it the best one ever!

Sincerely,
T. Neal Trafford
