What is the FSUS PTSA?
FSUS PTSA is a partnership of the parents*, teachers, students, administrators and staff of Florida State University Schools (Florida High). Together, we are working for the enrichment of our students' educational experience.
*Grandparents, family members and other friends of FSUS are an important part of FSUS PTSA.
Our Purpose
- To promote the educational, physical, emotional and spiritual welfare of our children
- To strengthen the relationship between the home and the school so that families and teachers may cooperate in the education of our children
- To advocate for laws that protect and nurture our children
Research has shown that a major factor in a school's success is a high level of parent and community involvement and support. A parent's involvement has a huge, positive impact on a student's attitude, attendance, and academic achievement. You have the power to make a difference in your student's education and to enrich the educational experience of every student at Florida State University Schools.
How Can You Help?
1. Become a member!
- By joining PTSA you are showing your support and commitment to the betterment of the educational environment at Florida High. Our goal is to have one parent member for every child at FSUS.
- By joining PTSA you become a member of the oldest child advocacy program in the nation.
- Your membership dues pay for our charter with the National, State and Local PTA and give our children a voice in legislation.
- As a PTSA member you stay informed of the latest Florida High and PTSA news through our Council Oak newsletter and by attending General Assembly meetings. As a member you will have a voice and a vote in all issues brought before PTSA.
Our fundraisers support all the activities of the FSUS PTSA including Teacher Mini-Grants, Student of the Month Awards, Book Fairs and Reading Programs, Teacher Appreciation, School Gardens, Bike Rodeo, Playground Improvements, Kindergarten Boo-Hoo Parent Breakfast and much, much more! You can help us when you:
- Save and submit General Mills Box Tops for Education, Campbell's Labels for Education, and Tysons' Project A+ Labels
- Sign up "Florida State University High" when using your Target Rewards card. This money is directly deposited to FSUS and divided equally among the elementary, middle and high schools
- Participate in our Annual Fundraisers (Wrapping Paper & Cookie Dough)
- Send in your change for Pennies for Playtime which goes directly to playground improvements
- Make tax-deductible Direct Donations to FSUS PTSA
We need volunteers at every level of time commitment: one-time events, one hour, one day, one project. You can be part of our quorum at General Assembly meetings, or the parent who brings in baked goods for the Bake Sale. You can join committees, lead committees, or even run for elected office. Be as involved as you want to be.
