Overview
Research initiatives at FSUS bring together the expertise and resources of FSUS faculty and administration, university professors and other stakeholders. These initiatives can be broadly described in three categories: (1) research jointly initiated by FSUS personnel, university professors, or other stakeholders, (2) research primarily carried out by external researchers who require a specific sample for their research project (students, teachers, parents), (3) action research carried out by FSUS teachers. Type (1) and (2) research projects vary in scope from relatively small graduate research projects to large-scale funded projects, all needing a substantial number of research participants, and producing scientific results for future scholarly publication. In contrast, type (3) action research is more limited in scope and is directed towards empirical evaluation of instruction and other class room practices with regard to student achievement and behavior.
