Overview
Field (clinical) experiences consist of training activities for college and university students in which they gain practical experience with teaching and other school functions by way of volunteer work, observations, practicums, pre-internships, or internships. FSUS is interested in partnering with institutions of higher learning to advance teacher recruitment, preparation and retention in an effort to address the quantitative and qualitative personnel needs of the K-12 public school system. The school provides many opportunities for college and university students to work with FSUS teachers and observe or participate in the day-to-day activities of educating K-12 students.

FSUS faculty and administrators are also available for collaborations with college and university professors. Together they may form advisory groups or discussion groups that target issues in teacher education and professional development. In addition, teachers and staff can mentor and advise pre-service teachers, or contribute a practitioner's perspective to university courses

Continuous communication among all K-12 stakeholders is strongly encouraged. Interactions at every level form the foundation for building strong and innovative programs of field experiences and supporting professional growth of all stakeholders.
