1. How does my child get considered for admission to Florida State University Schools?
Submit an application for your child. Applications are available online on the admissions home page and can be submitted electronically. All applications must be submitted by November 1, 2007.
If I do not have a computer, how do I apply?
A computer kiosk has been set up in the front office to assist potential applicants who do not have access to a computer. If you are still unable to submit an application online, please call 245-3700 and ask for Admissions.
2. When should I apply to Florida State University Schools?
Applications should be submitted the year before you want your child to attend Florida State University Schools. The application window for the 2008-2009 school year is July 2-November 1, 2007.
3. What is the application process?
Submit an application on or before the due date. The due date for the 2008-2009 school year is November 1, 2007. For applicants entering K or grade 6 and new applicants for grades 7-12, an admissions test will be administered in January. Notification about testing will occur in December. All applicants will be notified about selection for admission to Florida State University Schools for the 2008-2009 school year by March 1, 2008.
4. How are students selected?
Students are randomly selected by computer according to demographic information on race, gender, socio-economic status, and academic ability to most closely represent the public school student population profile of the State of Florida. Consideration is also given to children who have siblings enrolled at Florida State University Schools, children whose parent(s) graduated from Florida State University Schools, and children of current employees of Florida State University Schools.
5. What if my child is not selected?
Children who are not selected remain in the applicant pool and will be considered for any vacancies that occur during the school year for which they applied. If your child is selected to fill a vacancy by the computer program, you will be notified. If you would like to keep your child in the applicant pool for the following school year, fill out an application during the next application window.
6. Do I need to reapply every year?
In order to ensure that all information on file is up-to-date, we require all potential candidates for admission to update their information every year.
