Philosophy and Goals
The Physical education staff at the Florida State University School (FSUS) offers students a wide variety of activities and experiences which affirms their belief that physical education is an internal part of each student's total educational experience. The program is designed to foster opportunities for students to develop their potential for physical movement while challenging them to operate creatively, to solve problems, and to share thoughtfully and with consideration for others. The success of the program is measured by the individual success of each child in all three domains--psychomotor, cognitive and affective.

The goals of the program are the following:

  1. To promote the attainment of skill.
  2. To provide activity which promotes and monitors physical fitness.
  3. To provide knowledge of movement concepts, health-related concepts, and scientific concepts.
  4. To provide experience that promote social, emotional, and physical development.
  5. To make activities meaningful, appropriate, and fun for the students.
  6. To develop each student as a functioning, skillful, healthy, positive, and happy human being.
