Our district plan is a collaboration between Florida State University and Florida State University School/Tallahassee.

FSUS has a partnership with the Multilingual/Multicultural Education Department at FSU to assist with the implementation of the program at the student level and the teacher level. This partnership has been designed with the help of FSU Professor, Eleni Pappamihiel.

A the school level we have the following:

  • Two (2) resource staff members are employed who oversee the student identification, assessment, and progress monitoring of students as well as specifics of the program. These staff members are under the direction of the High School Principal.


  • Presently there are 12 elementary students, 12 middle school and high school students totaling 24 students receiving services in the LEP program.


  • Classes for teacher ESOL endorsement are held each semester on our campus. FSU staff members teach these classes. http://www.firn.edu/doe/omsle/timeline.htm


  • Teachers have been given ESOL strategy checklists to use with each of their ESOL students.

  • Student and parent communication forms are presently available in the following languages: Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Chinese.


  • To assist with the understanding of the program, the following acronyms are defined:
